WE ARE CALLED TO WORSHIP

Good morning, you beautiful people of God!

“Battle Hymn of the Republic”

“A Fourth of July Prayer – A Prayer for Our Nation”

PSALM OF PRAISE  Psalm 100:1-5 (NKJV)

Make a joyful shout to the Lord, all you lands!
Serve the Lord with gladness;
Come before His presence with singing.
Know that the Lord, He is God;
It is He who has made us, and not we ourselves;
We are His people and the sheep of His pasture.
Enter into His gates with thanksgiving,
And into His courts with praise.
Be thankful to Him, and bless His name.
For the Lord is good;
His mercy is everlasting,
And His truth endures to all generations.

PRAYER

Lord God,

Today, we thank you that as we shelter in our homes during the COVID-19 outbreak that we are also sheltering beneath the protection of the shadow of your wings.  Thank you for the gift of knowledge that you have given to our doctors and scientists.  Continue to guide them to a vaccine and a cure.  Intervene and quickly bring an end to this pandemic.

We ask for a special outpouring of your healing grace and strength upon those who have contracted the virus, for those who struggle with chronic and terminal illnesses and for those whose spirits are heavy and dark with sadness and despair.  Be with them, comfort them and bring them wholeness according to your will.

We are grateful for your faithfulness and steadfast love.  Comfort all you grieve this day.  Provide for those who have lost loved ones, who have lost jobs and who have lost hope.

We give thanks for our freedom and our way of life.  Watch over and protect those who put their lives and health on the line for our protection and our freedom.

Bless our police, our fire fighters and those who serve our country in the military.  Be with their families and give them peace and assurance that those they love are in your care.

We are blessed to be your people and the sheep of your pasture.  Deliver us from the sins of pride, materialism and indifference to the needs of others.  Inspire us to be agents of your justice and our nation’s conscience.

We pray for our leaders, that you grant them. soundness of judgement, courage of decision and the zeal to unite the people of our country and to work for the common good.

You are our God, and we are your people and the sheep of your pasture.  Bless us that we may be a blessing to all peoples.  We ask this in Christ’s name, who first taught us to pray:

Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name.
Thy kingdom come, thy will be done on earth
as it is in heaven.  Give us this day our daily bread.
And forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those
who trespass against us.  And lead us not into temptation,
but deliver us from evil.  For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory forever.  Amen
