PRAYER

O Lord, Most High, whether we are worshiping in the shelter of our homes or together in the sanctuary of churches, you are with us, and we worship you!  We praise you with songs of joy!  For no matter what our circumstances, you are still God, creator and king of all creation.  We belong to you.  Hallelujah!

 For those among us and people everywhere, we pray your healing grace for those who are sick at home and in hospital.  We pray for your speedy intervention and for the containment and defeat of the corona virus.
We hold them in our hearts and lift our prayers to you.
For those among us and people everywhere, we pray that your love surrounds those who are alone and forgotten that they may feel you with them.
We hold them in our hearts and lift our prayers to you.
For those among us and people everywhere, we pray that your hand of grace be upon those who are lost and seeking that they may find their rest and hope in Jesus Christ.
We hold them in our hearts and lift our prayers to you.
For those among us and people everywhere who are grieving and mourning, we ask for the strength and comfort.
We hold them in our hearts and lift our prayers to you.
For those among us and people everywhere who are serving in the military and their families, watch over them and protect them.  We pray for the reign of peace, that war may be no more.  We give thanks for those who put their lives on the line for our health and safety.
We hold them in our hearts and lift our prayers to you.
We ask this in the name of our wonderful Savior, Christ Jesus, who first taught us to pray:
Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name.
Thy kingdom come, thy will be done on earth
as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread.
And forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those
who trespass against us. And lead us not into temptation,but deliver us from evil. 
 For thine is the kingdom, and the power, 
and the glory forever. Amen

Majestic Lord, you unselfishly provide us with the sanctuary of your love.  You wisely calm our imagined fears while nurturing our dream-filled hopes.  Grant us the ability to serve you faithfully.  Joyfully, we honor you with these tithes and offerings.  Blessed be your name!  Amen.

Leviticus 19:11-12 Matthew 5:33-37 Even if we've never seen the movie, Gone with the Wind, we're probably familiar with Scarlett O'Hara's oath. Framed by the sunset, Scarlet raises her fist in defiance and says, “As God is my witness, I will never be hungry again!” In today's passage from the Gospel of Matthew, Jesus leads us into a new understanding of oaths and profanity. Did the character, Scarlett O’Hara in the movie, Gone with the Wind , take the Lord’s name in vain when she made her famous oath? “As God is my witness, as God is my witness, they’re not going to lick me.
