CALL TO WORSHIP (based on Psalm 138)

Come and worship,

all you who love and serve our God —

who surrounds us with unfailing love,

and answers us when we call;

who cares for the humble and lowly,

and never abandons those in need.

This is our God,

worthy of our worship and praise!

PRAYER OF THE PEOPLE

O Lord our God, we come together with songs o praise in our hearts because of your unfailing love and faithfulness, even in these times when we struggle with life’s issues.

We suffer from fatigue as we deal with an ongoing epidemic, with the problems that divide us and with the impact of natural disasters.  Sometimes we can’t help but lament, “Not one more thing, Lord!”

Strengthen our resolve to preserver.  Re-kindle hope and confidence in the future you say you have for us.  Listen to our prayers for those who are suffering.  Hear our petitions and assure us that you have not forgotten us.

Even though we are fragile and weary people who sometimes cry out, “How much longer?!?” we proclaim that you are our refuge and our refuge in these times.  You are the God whose love for us never changes.  Thank you that we can confidently come before you, no matter what, no matter where.  Thank you for all your gifts and blessings, especially for your Son, Jesus Christ, who first taught us to pray:

Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name.  Thy kingdom come, thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven.  Give us this day our daily bread.  And forgive us our trespasses as we forgive those who trespass against us.  And lead us not into temptation but deliver us from evil.  For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, forever.  Amen.

BENDICTION

May the God of peace, who through the blood of the eternal covenant brought back from the dead our Lord Jesus, that great shepherd of the sheep, quip you with everything good for doing his will, and may he work in us what is pleasing to him, through Jesus Christ, to whom be glory for ever and ever. Amen.  (Hebrews 13:20-21)
